MANILA, Feb. 20 — Tropical Depression Crising has maintained its strength as it moved toward Southern Palawan which remained under storm warning no.1, weathermen said.

Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong said as of 4 p.m. Wednesday Crising was at 300 km northwest of Zamboanga City (07.5°N, 119.4°E) and packed maximum winds of 45 kph near the center and forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph.

Quitlong said Crising may make landfall over the southern tip of Palawan, adding there is a chance it can intensify into a tropical storm but it will by then be outside of Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

“Maaring tumama ito sa southern tip ng Palawan. Nariyan ang possibility lumakas ito at maging tropical storm pero nasa labas na ito ng PAR or nasa boundary na ito,” he explained.

Quitlong added Crising is expected to be out of PAR by Thursday evening or early Friday morning.(PNA)
