Team PNoy bet wants all teammates to join President Aquino in campaign sorties

CARMONA, Cavite, Feb. 15 – Former Sen. Ramon ‘Jun’ Magsaysay Jr., the oldest member of the Team PNoy, is beginning to miss some of his fellow senatorial bets, urging them to be present specially in campaign sorties to be attended by President Benigno Aquino III.

Magsaysay made this comment after only half of the 12 Team PNoy senatorial candidates showed up in the San Pablo City campaign rally last Thursday despite the presence of President Aquino.

”Yesterday in San Pablo, President Aquino arrived. We’re only six. I hope we’re 12 solid. We should have sense of priority. If the President is present, let’s respect the President,” Magsaysay appealed to his fellow Team PNoy bets.

Those present in San Pablo sortie were Bam Aquino, Riza Hontiveros, Jamby Madrigal, Sonny Angara, Grace Poe and Magsaysay. Absent were Alan Peter Cayetano, Antonio Trillanes IV, Loren legarda, Chiz Escudero, Koko Pimentel and Cynthia Villar.

The Team PNoy on Friday traveled to Carmona for its third out-of-town campaign sortie to attend Sorteo festival but only five candidates showed up while three sent their representatives.

Aside from Magsaysay, other present in Carmona sortie include Aquino, Hontiveros, Madrigal and Angara while Legarda sent her father Tony, Pimentel his mother Ving and Poe sent actor Bobby Andrews as their proxies.

Magsaysay, a 74-year-old son of former President Ramon Magsaysay Sr., said sending proxies could displease not only voters but the local leaders who organize the out-of-town campaign rallies of the Team PNoy.

”I would like to recommend for all the candidates to attend rally specially if the local officials like governors and congressmen were present. We should give them importance,” Magsaysay said.

After the grand proclamation rally at Plaza Miranda last Tuesday where all 12 senatorial candidates were present, the Team PNoy has already visited the provinces of Batangas, Laguna and Cavite.

Magsaysay, however, understands why some of his Team PNoy teammates like Pimentel, Cayetano and Trillanes remained a no show in the last 3 campaign sorties outside Manila.

”It’s natural that some of us have prior commitments at the start of the campaign but I hope majority, if not all of us, will be present in the next campaign sorties,” Magsaysay said.

Cayetano said he has already prior commitments but promised to join the Team PNoy in the next sorties.

Magsaysay said he might not be able to attend all the Team PNoy campaign rallies but he would attend sorties to be attend by President Aquino.

The national candidates including partylist representatives have been given 90 days to campaign for the May 13 mid-term elections. (PNA)
