PNP says 42,000 registered firearms owners have address problems

MANILA, Feb. 13 — The Philippines National Police (PNP) Wednesday said 42,000 registered firearms out of the 530,000 licensed nationwide have problems with their owners' address.

PNP Director General Alan Purisima said they are now investigating these gun owners to determine if they are real individuals.

He added this discrepancy was revealed by their Oplan "Katok" or visits of police officers to civilians known to have guns.

"We will blacklist these gun-owners and we will require them to appear in PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City to explain to us why are they using fake addresses in firearms licenses," Purisima stressed.

Failure to do would mean the immediate cancellation of their license and their firearms will be deemed loose. (PNA)
