MANILA, Feb. 13 — The bottom line of quality governance is service to the people and the public, according to the Dept. of Labor and Employment on Tuesday.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz urged all officials and employees of DOLE to work together to maintain the department’s compliance to good governance anchored on the reforms of the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino.

“Kayo ang aking boss, should continually guide the DOLE’s commitment to the people”, Baldoz said, speaking to the first batch of participants to the Quality Management System Appreciation/Refresher Course.

This was attended by 28 quality management representatives from DOLE services, bureaus, and attached agencies in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite.

“The DOLE family must never go back, and neither renege, nor backslides to sacrifice the interest of its clients who include labor and employers, the Filipino labor force, overseas Filipino workers, disadvantaged sectors, the victims of typhoons and calamities, students, and other new entrants to the labor force,” Baldoz said.

She also said that the DOLE must strive hard to maintain the qualified status under the rules and regulations of the Commission on Audit that it has worked so hard to attain and maintain since 2010.

The DOLE’s Internal Audit Service road map until 2016 with the twin goals of attaining “unqualified” COA Reports and Compliance of QMS of ISO certificate standards has been approved by Baldoz.

Noting that the DOLE has been on qualified status based on COA Reports since 2011, Baldoz said “the desired objective is to ensure that all audits done by COA on DOLE and attached agencies reach the level of unqualified this year and onwards to 2016. (PNA)
