MANILA, Feb. 11 — Vice President Jejomar Binay, former President Joseph Estrada, and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile are expected to lead the grand proclamation rally of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) on Tuesday in Cebu City, according to UNA secretary general Rep. Toby Tiango.

Tiangco said on Monday that its all systems go for the UNA as Binay, Estrada and Enrile, considered as Big Three endorsers of the UNA, formally endorse the coalition’s senatorial bets in the midterm 2013 elections to the Cebuano voters.

Tiangco said UNA is thankful for the overwhelming support the people of Cebu has given to UNA senatorial slate led by Nancy Binay, Tingting Cojuangco, JV Ejercito, Jack Enrile, Richard Gordon, Gregorio Honasan, Ernesto Maceda, Mitos Magsaysay and Juan Miguel Zubiri.

”We’re so thankful for the support of the Cebuanos and UNA is very honored and proud to have its first rally in the province of Cebu,” he noted.

The UNA senatorial bets will be joined on stage by suspended Gov. Gwen Garcia, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and party officials.

The troika of Binay, Estrada and Enrile visited Cebu City in December 2012 to show their support for Garcia.

A number of local government leaders of Cebu are expected to welcome and join UNA during the proclamation rally which is expected to be the biggest political event in the province and this year.

From Cebu, the candidates will be traveling to Bohol on February 13 for the second leg of their provincial sortie in the Central Visayas region.

UNA is a coalition between the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) led by Vice President Binay and the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) led by former President Estrada.

As a constructive opposition, UNA is a responsible partner of the Aquino administration in pushing its reform agenda and is committed to support and serve as fiscalizer by providing the needed checks and balances under a genuine democracy, according to Tiangco.

Tiangco said the nine UNA senatorial candidates and the three guest candidates – Senator Loren Legarda and Chiz Escudero and Garce Poe, are committed to pursue reforms that would improve the lives of the Filipino people.

”UNA intends to pursue a legislative agenda that would advance moral and transparent governance, promote greater accountability, improve the delivery of government services, encourage entrepreneurship, uphold the rights and welfare of women and children and persons with disabilities, attract investments and create more job opportunities for the Filipino workforce, protect our environment, address our people’s need for responsive health, education, and other social services, and achieve food security and energy independence by 2020,” Tiangco said.
