MANILA, Jan. 31 — Troopers from the Army's 35th Infantry Battalion and local police have confiscated 27 illegally cut logs during an operation in the heavily-forested area of Tubod, Lanao Del Norte Wednesday morning.

Col. Ricardo Jalad, 35th IB commander, said the logs were found at Purok 5, Barangay Malingao in Tubod town at the sawmill owned by a certain Eddie Solatorio, a resident of the barangay.

The 35th IB is one of the attached military formation of the 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga Del Sur.

The lumber were confiscated when Solatorio failed to produce any documents allowing him to cut or harvest forest products.

“The foiled illegal operation of a sawmill is in support to the mandate of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,” said Major Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III, the 1st Infantry Division commander.

He also thanked concerned citizens for tipping off Solatorio's illegal activities to authorities. (PNA)
