NDRRMC extends 20,000 family packs to 'Quinta' victims

ILOILO CITY, Dec 30 — The national government through the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) will extend 20,000 family packs to victims of tropical depression "Quinta" in Capiz, Aklan and Iloilo.

Undersecretary Benito Ramos, NDRRMC executive director on Sunday said the initial assistance was transported to Iloilo Saturday evening via C-130 plane of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and were already distributed to Aklan and Capiz.

Judith Tanate, chief of the crisis intervention unit (CIU) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here said that so far 2, 500 family packs have already arrived and distributed.

She said that 1, 500 packs have been brought to Capiz on Sunday while the DSWD region augmented 500 and shipped 1, 500 packs to Aklan.

Each family pack contains three kilos of rice, six packs of noodles, six sardines and six sachets of 3-in-1 coffee.

Meanwhile, the DSWD here has already released some P5.59 million worth of assistance consisting of 100 sacks of rice and 13, 800 family food packs to the three provinces.

Some 2, 500 family food packs are also ready for distribution. (PNA)
