Teener dies, 12 hurt in Cotabato road mishap

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Dec. 28 — A 14-year old girl died while 12 others were wounded when the multi-cab they were riding hit a speeding 10-wheeler truck along the highway in Makilala town in North Cotabato, around 12:30 a.m., Friday.

Police in Makilala town identified the slain victim as Joana Lompingan, 14, of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

Twelve other passengers, including the driver of the multi-cab identified as Bani Maki, were wounded.

Maki, reports said, was among those seriously hurt. He sustained severe head injury as a result of the accident, reports said.

Many of the passengers were students from Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

The police in Makilala said the multi-cab was heading towards the Makilala-Kidapawan highway when it collided with a truck, driven by a certain Hampit who voluntarily surrendered to the police.

The truck was headed towards the Makilala-Davao highway.

The victims were rushed to the Makilala Specialist Hospital in Barangay Santo Nino, Makilala, for treatment.(PNA)
