MANILA, Dec. 24 — The Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP-FEO) closed down a firecracker stall in Bocaue town in Bulacan for lack of necessary permit during a surprised inspection Monday.

PNP FEO inspection and enforcement section head Chief Insp. Nelson Bautista said stallowner Susan San Pedro failed to present PNP permit to sell firecrackers and other pyrotechnic products during inspection of firecrackers stalls in Bulacan.

"Hinanapan namin sila ng dokumento at papeles na pinayagan sila ng PNP para magnegosyo. Wala silang maipakita. Ang gagawin ng kapulisan ia-account ang pyrotechnic devices na narito,” Bautista said.

Bocaue is a popular destination for revelers at this time of the year, as it is known for its fireworks industry.

The PNP continues its random inspections of firecracker stalls for the holidays.

Authorities have been trying to minimize firecracker-related injuries this year.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima made the rounds of provinces to meet with regional and provincial commanders.

Purisima met with task groups in Northern and Central Luzon to exhort them to crack down on illegal firearms and also pushed for on-the-spot gun checks. (PNA)
