MANILA, Dec. 24 — An official of the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help or Baclaran Church in Paranaque City warned church goers against fake Mass collectors.

Fr. Victorino Cueto, the Shrine rector, issued the warning as many people are expected to go to church Tuesday, Christmas Day.

“We received reports that there are certain people making a collection especially when there are too many people,” he said in an interview.

Cueto said they were informed about people going around making collections when one of their parishioners inquired about a second collection during the Mass.

“There was this woman who went to our office because she realized that she gave her money to the wrong Mass collector. Usually we do the collection immediately after the homily, but somebody made a collection in their row before the homily that’s why she asked if we collected twice. We then told her that we never had any second collection in Baclaran,” he said.(PNA)
