Medical team injured in Baganga road mishap

MANILA, Dec. 19 – Seven members of a medical team, out to aid Pablo victims in Baganga, Davao Oriental, were injured following a road mishap in Barangay Lucod of the above-mentioned locality Tuesday afternoon, military sources in Manila said.

Lt. Col. Lyndon Paniza, 10th Infantry Division spokesperson, identified the victims as Dr. Nic Cantiro, Dr. Almatin Dimaucom, Dr. Nor-ayin Salic, Dr. Junnah Mangacy, Dr. Grace Espinosa, Dr. Taher Salaik, and their driver Tuy Pangilan.

They were members of the Provincial Health Office of Maguindanao, deployed to help victims of the devastating typhoon, the sources quoted Paniza as saying.

Paniza said the team was aboard a black Pajero van and headed towards Barangay Lucod, Baganga when the vehicle crashed into a tree while trying to avoid a motorcycle.

“Most of them were injured and had many bruises in their parties," Paniza stressed.

The 10th Infantry Division spokesperson added that the victims were immediately evacuated to Cateel District Hospital for immediate medical attention 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The injured doctors were later transferred to Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City. (PNA)
