Butuan City, Dec. 18 – Officers and personnel of Police Regional Office XIII welcomed the declaration of yuletide truce from the midnight of Dec. 16, 2012 until 1 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013.

In his directive, Caraga PNP Director C/Supt. Carmelo E. Valmoria said that “In consonance with the proclamation of Pres. Aquino on the unilateral declaration of ceasefire with the communists, the Police Regional Office XIII has suspended its tactical operations against the rebels effective midnight of Dec. 16 until 1 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2013.”

C/Supt. Valmoria clarified that his directive did not include normal law enforcement operations like the service of the warrants of arrests.

Likewise, all units were directed to maintain operational readiness and be vigilant in order to avoid any incidents.

The same order was a welcome development to the military officers and personnel operating in the region.

"The suspension of the military operations may give the soldiers the precious time to spend with their families during the yuletide season," he said.

“Even the rebels can take advantage of the truce, as they can come down unhampered in order to spend time with their loved ones during Christmas,” he said.(PNA)
