42 indigents get SEA loan from Zambo city government

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 18 –- The city government of Zamboanga pursues the grant of Self-Employment Assistance (SEA) loans to help indigent but deserving families sustain small business ventures and ultimately make them self-reliant and self-sufficient.

Mayor Celso Lobregat personally distributed on Tuesday the checks ranging from P3,000 to P5,000 to 42 beneficiaries. The assistance released on Tuesday totaled to P146,000.

Of the total number of recipients, 32 are from the Vitali District, four from the Tetuan District and six from the Ayala District.

Lobregat advised beneficiaries of the program to use the money in the proper way and to promptly pay their obligations in order to allow other equally deserving families to avail of the privilege.

The beneficiaries were identified by the City Social Welfare and Development Officer(CSWDO)and they have agreed, through a contract, to pay the back the amount to the city government in various installments with no interest for a period of one to two years.

The payment policy will pave the way for other deserving families to also avail of the loans.

The recipients will use the amount for various buy and sell activities for charcoal, banana, rice, corn, fresh fish, crabs and shrimps including sari-sari store.(PNA)
