PN relief ship enroute to typhoon-battered Davao Oriental

MANILA, Dec. 5 – The Philippine Navy (PN) on Wednesday said that the BRP Miguel Malvar (PS-19) is now loading emergency supplies at Macarwat, Gen. Santos City for delivery to "Pablo"-battered Davao Oriental.

Col. Omar Tonsay, PN spokesperson, said the ship was expected to leave Gen. Santos City by 9 p.m. and arrived at Barangay Labahon, Bagangan, Davao Oriental by 5 a.m. Thursday.

Tonsay said that the BRP Miguel Malvar carries four tons of relief goods consisting of clothing, food, bottled water given by the provincial government of Davao Oriental, non-government organizations and other concerned citizens.

As this develops, Tonsay said that 16 of their disaster response task units and 20 PN ships from five naval districts are on alert for possible rescue and relief missions. (PNA)
