MANILA, Nov. 23 — Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has admitted the members of the prosecution are divided on whether to appeal the ruling of the Supreme Court disallowing the live coverage of the Maguindanao massacre case trial.

The massacre claimed the lives of 57 civilians, including 15 women and 30 media practitioners in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao three years ago Friday.

De Lima said there are some prosecutors who agreed with the court ruling.

She noted some prosecutors argued the media coverage of the trial was not prohibited.

De Lima said this was the reason why they have not yet filed their motion for reconsideration for the live media coverage before the SC.

However, De Lima maintained she still prefers the live media coverage of the trial.

If the public is focused on the case, De Lima said, it is certain that the players, particularly the defense, will be meticulous during the trial of the case. (PNA)
