Judge Reyes doing all she can to resolve the Maguindanao massacre case –SC

MANILA, Nov. 22 — On the eve of the third anniversary of the Maguindanao massacre, the Supreme Court said that Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Presiding Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes is doing all she can to resolve the multiple murder case.

The massacre claimed the lives of 57 civilians, including 15 women and 30 media practitioners in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao on Nov. 23, 2009.

In a press conference Thursday, SC Acting Public Information Office chief and spokesperson Atty. Maria Victoria Gleoresty Guerra said that the immediate resolution of the case will depend on the cooperation of all the parties involved in the case.

Based on latest reports, the number of victims has reached 58, while there are 196 accused, 57 of whom have applied for bail for their temporary freedom.

Of the 98 arrested accused, 81 have been arraigned.

Of the 307 motions, 204 have been decided upon by the Quezon City RTC Branch 221.

The number of hearings has reached 264. (PNA)
