BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 22 — The Philippines Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Thursday assured that 422 natives of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) working in Israel are safe despite reported skirmishes there.

POEA regional director Delfina Camarillo also said that based on their latest monitoring through the Filipino workers in that area, the bombings has apparently decreased.

She said that all the 422 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Israel, particularly in Jerusalem, assured that they are being taken cared of by their respective employers since the tense situation started within the Gaza strip.

"No one among them wanted repatriation. They told our office they are safe and have good working conditions that they do not want to leave Israel. Besides, they fear more of becoming jobless here," Camarillo said.

Of the total of 422 Cordillerans, 80 are males and 322 are females. Their jobs range from skilled workers to domestic helpers.

They are among the Cordillera residents who work abroad to give better lives to their families back home and send their children to schools.

Camarillo said that the OFWs from this region working in Israel were properly documented before leaving the Philippines. (PNA)
