LAOAG CITY, Nov. 22 — Thirty five vegetable entrepreneurs here have received an interest-free loan of P5,000.

The amount was secured through the Self-Employment Assistance Program-Kaunlaran of the provincial government of Ilocos Norte.

“The beneficiaries applied for the loan and met all the qualifications requirements set forth in the program," said Felicitas Sales of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PWSDO)

Beneficiaries of collateral-free loan are all members of the Vegetable Association of Bangui town.

Being seed capital for their businesses, the beneficiaries will have to pay monthly amortization of P416 for a period of one year.

Governor Imee Marcos said the loan aims to benefit low-income families to boost their entrepreneurial skills and at the same time develop their own micro-enterprises.

The program, funded from part of the 20-percent development fund of the local government, was launched to help reduce poverty.(PNA)
