MANILA, Nov. 15 — The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has recommended to President Benigno S. Aquino III the promotion of three ranking Philippine National Police officials.

This was announced by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary and Napolcom Chairman Manuel A. Roxas II after the Napolcom en banc issued three resolutions approving the promotion of one police director to police deputy director general (equivalent to three-star general in the military), one police chief superintendent to police director (equivalent to two-star general), and one senior superintendent to chief superintendent (equivalent to one-star general).

Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo U. Escueta said the Commission approved and recommended the promotion to Deputy Director General of P/Director Alan L. Purisima, who is presently the acting chief of the Directorial Staff, a position that calls for the rank of Police Deputy Director General.

Recommended for promotion to the rank of Police Director was P/Chief Supt. Leonardo A. Espina, acting Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office, a position that calls for the rank of Police Director.

The Napolcom also recommended the promotion to Police Chief Supt. of P/Senior Supt. Mario A. Lopez Jr., acting chief of the Inspection and Audit Division, Internal Affairs Service, a position that calls for the rank of Police Chief Supt.

“The Napolcom approved and recommended to President Aquino their promotion to star rank positions after the Chief, PNP P/Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome, recommended for their promotion and certified that they meet all the requirements for promotion,” Escueta said.

“The said police officials have been conferred by the Napolcom with the Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE), an eligibility requirement for the ranks of Police Senior Superintendent to Police Director General,” he added. (PNA)
