'One strike policy' vs. jueteng reiterated in Region 1

CAMP OSCAR FLORENDO, La Union, Nov. 9 –Police Regional Director Franklin Bucayu reiterated his standing order to police commanders: they are responsible in their areas so they must move to eradicate all forms of illegal gambling, particularly jueteng.

Bucayu reiterated the warning following the relief of the chief of police of Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur under the One-Strike-Policy of the police.

This was when joint Regional Anti-Illegal Gambling Task Force from Police Regional Office I and Ilocos Sur Police conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation in Barangay Paratong, Sta. Cruz that led to the arrest of two persons..

Relieved as an aftermath of that operation that resulted in the arrest of two persons was Chief Inspector Faustino Bandao, town police chief.

Arrested were Marvin Aban Galinga, 35, and Jerry Abella who were now charged before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office for violation of the Anti-Gambling Law.(PNA)
