DAVAO CITY, Nov. 9 — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH 11) took up the cudgels on the delay of the completion of the Digos-Bansalan in Davao del Sur road concreting project, the construction of which was said to have started in 2011.

DPWH 11 regional director Mariano Alquiza explained that the project is not under their supervision because it is part of the National Roads Improvement and Management Program (NRIMP) which is under the Office of the President funded by the World Bank.

“But since this is part of the region, our role is to just call their attention to fast-track the completion of the project because our office also received the same complaints on the delay that has caused so much inconvenience to the commuting public,” Alquiza said.

Dennis Flores, DPWH 11 spokesperson, added they were informed that the project is already 50 percent complete and that they are also monitoring this.

Flores said District Engineer Zenaida Tan of the District Engineering Office-Davao del Sur 1, is taking charge of supervising the construction works in the area to update the regional office. (PNA)
