DVO-HPG 11 to conduct more anti-carnap operations

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 25 -– The Highway Patrol Group (HPG 11) will conduct more anti-carnap operations after unmasking of the Baktin Carnap Syndicate led by Ryan Yu.
“Expect more anti-carnapping operations in the few days to come. We have still a lot of unfinished business,” HPG 11 regional director Sr. Supt. Gregorio Pimentel said in an interview Thursday.
Pimentel said "we have already identified the targets" and police are just waiting for the right opportunity.
He confirmed there are still many car owners here in the city who bought carnapped luxury vehicles from Yu’s group but were just pretending to legally-own those cars.
“They should better voluntarily surrender these stolen vehicles to us before they themselves could face the carnapping charges if we caught them using those cars during our operations,” he said.
Pimentel said those who would voluntarily endorse their cars to HPG will be investigated to clear their names.
In a series of raids since last week, operatives of HPG 11 and Davao City Police office recovered 30 vehicles, mostly made of Toyota brand, from warehouses and shops owned by Yu, tagged as Mindanao’s most notorious carnapper.
They also dug out 11 pieces of Toyota keys and 10 sets of plate numbers from Yu’s shop in Barangay Wilfredo Aquino in Agdao district here.
A P5-million reward is up for those who can bring in the suspect’s head "on a platter with ice" to Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
But reports have it that Yu was already out of the country and was said to be spotted in Thailand. (PNA)
