MANILA, Oct. 3 — Col. Arnulfo M. Burgos Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson, said on Wednesday the military has not recorded any violent incident related to the ongoing filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the midterm elections next year.

"Since the COC filing started Monday until 12 noon Wednesday, we are still to record any violent incident related to this," he added.

Burgos said that AFP security measures, together with the Philippine National Police, are still in place.

He added that the AFP will do its best to prevent a repeat of the Nov. 23, 2009 Maguindanao massacre where 57 people, mostly journalists, were killed by gunmen affiliated to the Ampatuan clan.

"What we have been doing is conducting proactive measures and our coordination with the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in sharing of informationregarding possible security threats," Burgos stressed. (PNA)
