MANILA, Oct. 2 — Outgoing Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MRTCB) Chairman Mary Grace Poe Llamanzares filed on Tuesday her certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator as an independent candidate adopted by both the Liberal Party-led administration coalition and the United Nationalist Alliance UNA).

The daughter of the late movie action king Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) said the reason why she decided to run for a higher office is to be able to continue the plans of her father, which were cut short after his death in December 2004.

Accompanied by her mother, multi-awarded actress Susan Roces, she admitted that she will be attending the campaign sorties of President Benigno S. Aquino III’s political party come the campaign period which will start late in February 2013.

“Sa coalition po, pero ako po ay tumatakbong independent… hindi po magiging madali. May patakaran po kasi sa LP ngayon, pag nag-ikot sila, kasama po talaga ako,” she said.

As for the group of former President Joseph Estrada and Vice President Jejomar Binay, Llamanzares said there is no requirement for her to join the UNA on stage, but if she will be invited by the UNA officials, she will be there.

“Yung UNA, hindi naman po talaga kailangan na sumama ako sa entablado, pero on a personal level, pag merong imbitasyon si President Erap mismo at Vice President Binay, hindi naman mawawala na nandun kami,” she said.

Since her candidacy has now been official, Llamanzares disclosed she has already nominated two individuals for the post she is set to vacate, but did not name them.

“Hindi ko ito iiwan sa isang tao na walang kapabilidad at walang pagmamahal sa telebisyon at pelikula,” she said.

She was appointed by President Aquino to the MTRCB post in 2010. (PNA)
