SC releases SALNs of 14 justices

MANILA, Aug. 30 — The Supreme Court (SC) has released the statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) of the 14 justices highest court of the land.

Based on the SALNs, newly-installed SC Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P. Aranal Sereno placed 10th in the ranking with a net worth of P18,029,575.51.

Sereno's net worth increased by P188,221.86 from last year's figure.

Associate Justice Mariano C. Del Castillo has a net worth of P108 million.

Del Castillo is followed by Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio with P79,146,199.00 up by P32,625,097.57 from the previous year.

Associate Justice Bienvenido L. Reyes is in third place with net worth of P75,146,199,000 followed by Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe with P67,101,327.

The rest of the listing is as follows:

— Associate Justice Roberto A. Abad with P42,100,000;

— Associate Justice Jose C. Mendoza with P27,408,152.36;

— Associate Justice Diosdado M. Peralta with P22,642,264.73;

— Associate Justice Martin S. Villarama, Jr with P19,074,165.20;

— Associate Justice Lucas P. Bersamin with P18,811,447.87;

— Associate Justice Jose P. Perez with P9,380,000;

— Associate Justice Teresita J. Leonardo-De Castro with P7,941,000; and

— Associate Justice Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. with P7,264,064.

Among the 14 justices in the SC, only four posted zero liabilities in their respective SALNs.They are Del Castillo, Abad, Villarama and Velasco. (PNA)
