Gov. Espino dares engineers to solve flooding in their respective areas

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Aug. 30 — Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. challenged about 150 engineers from Regions 1 and 2 to come out with their respective action plans to ease if not solve flooding in their respective localities.

Keynoting the three-day 1st Regional Conference of City and Municipal Engineers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CMEAP) at the Sison Auditorium here on Wednesday, Espino said the engineers can perhaps do something to alleviate the recurring flood in their respective localities.

Espino, in his speech read for him by Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan urged the engineers to come up with their solutions to the floods affecting their respective cities and municipalities as a result of the deepening impact of the climate change.

Espino, thru Baraan, told the engineers, “You have a crucial role to play…to create sustainable future and to improve the quality of life, through innovative engineering systems.”

In response to the challenge, Angelina M. De Vera, president of the CMEAP Pangasinan Chapter, said that they will conduct researches, feasibility studies, and planning to address the issue.

The three-day event with the theme “CMEAP: Continuing Building the Nation through Modern Technologies” included lectures on the installation of a number of software they will use to provide faster and better services.

One of the software is the Business Permit Software that will provide an automatic manner of assessing and issuing business permits.

De Vera said that apart from the knowledge they will get, the event is expected to create camaraderie among the engineers from the participating regions.
