MANILA, Aug. 29 — A daughter of slain Palawan broadcaster and environmentalist Doc Gerry Ortega on Wednesday said that the surfacing of a witness in the alleged departure of former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes and his brother Coron, Palawan Mayor Mario Reyes is a big help in proving the murder case of her father.

The Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines earlier on Wednesday presented to the media the alleged driver of Immigration Officer Rodel Udarbe, who fetched the Reyes brothers in Pasay City before they boarded an airplane bound for Hanoi, Vietnam on March 18, 2012.

According to Ortega's daughter Mica, it would appear that the Reyes brothers were guilty or that they were involved in the murder of her father that was why they left the country to avoid prosecution of their case.

Nevertheless, Mica said that they were still awaiting for the final result of the investigation conducted by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on the reported escape from justice of brothers Joel and Mario Reyes.

The BI is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Mica said that if it was true that the two brothers indeed left the country, she was appealing to concerned authorities to make the necessary means to expedite the arrest of the suspects in wherever part of the world they were hiding.

It was earlier reported that Joel Reyes allegedly used a passport with the name Joseph Lim Pe in his departure from the Philippines.

"Dahil bago pa lang ang development na ito, kung masusuportahan ng evidence ang sinasabi nila eh magandang karagdagan ito sa gusto naming patunayan na talagang may guilt si Reyes,” Mica said.

"Pero hinihintay namin ang final conclusion ng investigation ng DFA and BI," she said. (PNA)
