Fire hits residential area in boundary of Makati, Pasay

MANILA, Aug. 22 — A fire of a still unknown origin gutted a residential area in the boundary of Makati and Pasay cities on Tuesday morning.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Wilson Santos of the Pasay Fire Station said the blaze started at past 10am at the corner of Gil Puyat, Makati and Tramo Street in Pasay that eventually reached the 5th alarm before responding firefighters managed to put it under control at 12:50 pm.

But before it was put under control, explosions were heard which according to Santos most probably came from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks used by the households affected by the fire.

The fire was able to spread to several houses in the area as majority of them are made of light materials.

No casualties were reported in the three-hour blaze. (PNA)
