Taiwanese national held for carrying illegal drugs at NAIA-3

MANILA, Aug. 18 – A Taiwanese national was detained by law enforcers for attempting to smuggle a still undetermined amount of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and marijuana at the Ninoy Aquino International (NAIA) Terminal 3 Saturday.

Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., Philippine National Police spokesperson, identified the suspect as Yao Wei-Teng, 49.

Cerbo said that Yao was about to board a Cebu Pacific flight for Taipei when the Aviation Security Group personnel discovered the prohibited drugs at the suspect's luggage at around 2:20 p.m.

The Taiwanese was immediately handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for investigation, Cerbo added. (PNA)
