MANILA, July 27 — Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Friday said that there is no conflict among the justices of the SC.

During the fourth and last day of the panel interview by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), Sereno admitted that there are heated arguments during en banc sessions.

However, she said, at the end of the day, the justices laugh and share jokes over lunch.

"Ano po ang ihi-heal natin? After ng heated arguments nagkakatawanan nga tayo sa mga jokes ng isa't isa kahit corny," Sereno told the JBC.

She said that a justice must have a strong conviction and ready to defend what he or she thinks is right.

"I must never put myself in a position in which I cannot judge rightly," she said.

Sereno indicated that there are reforms that needed to implement at the SC and most important of such reforms is instilling values to members of the Judiciary and teaching them faith and fear of God.

At age 52, Sereno will be one of the longest serving justices of the SC. (PNA)
