MANILA, July 26 — Two British nationals wanted for a string of child molestation and sexual assault cases are scheduled to be deported by the Bureau of Immigration this week.

Keefer James Cooper, 70, and David Alan Williams, 50, are currently detained at the BI jail in Bicutan, Taguig, pending deportation issued against them by BI board of commissioners for being undesirable aliens.

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the Britons were arrested by BI fugitive search unit personnel last July 17 at their house in Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte.

“Their continued presence in our country poses a threat to our Filipino children, anyone of whom could be the next victim,” he said.

Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang, BI acting intelligence chief, said Cooper is the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant in the United Kingdom after being convicted of sexual offenses by the Woolwich crown court in London on. Feb. 2, 2010.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison after finding him guilty on 10 counts of rape and indecent assault against children.

However, he was convicted in absentia as he eluded arrest and fled to the Philippines in August 2009.

On the other hand, a crown court in Worcestershire , England convicted Williams for indecent assault on a child in May 2004.

He served a short prison term, was released on bail and fled to the Philippines in September of that year. (PNA)
