MANILA, July 26 -– Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Thursday scored the critics of the DOJ and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) a day after the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) granted the petition for bail of former President and now Pampanga (2nd District) Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on the electoral sabotage case filed against her.

De Lima stressed that they cannot just invent witnesses in order to strengthen the case.

She pointed out that their critics do not even understand the case, hence, it is easy for them to criticize.

If it is true that the case was mishandled, De Lima said, then even former Maguindanao provincial election supervisor Lintang Bedol and former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan, Sr. should have been allowed to post bail for their temporary liberty.

Likewise, De Lima maintained that they have a strong evidence against Mrs. Arroyo to prove that she was involved in the alleged commission of electoral fraud during the May 2007 elections. (PNA) FPV/PTR
