Ilocos Region's top 16th wanted arrested in Taguig

MANILA, July 23 — A top wanted person in the Ilocos Region, hiding for the past 10 years for the crime of murder, has been arrested by the Southern Police District in Taguig City.

Police C/Supt. Benito Estipona, SPD Director, identified the suspect as Emiterio Bagay, 53, of Nagsurot, Burgos, Ilocos Norte, and residing at Barangay Batya, Bocaue, Bulacan.

Estipona said Bagay was arrested at his hideout at # 19 General Espino St., Zone 6, South Signal Village, Taguig City.

Police said Bagay did not resist arrest by the District Investigation and Detective Management Division and the District Special Operations Unit led by Police Sr. Insp. Marco Duka .

They were reinforced by personnel from the Region One Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Estipona was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Executive Judge Jose Pilar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19 in Bangui, Ilocos Norte for the crime of murder.

His victim was identified as one Jackson Ravina whom he shot to death in September 2002 in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.

According to the Chief of the DIDMD, Chief Insp. Ruben Lacuesta, Bagay is also an active member of Gun-for-Hire and an Organized Private Armed Group operating in Ilocos Norte and neighboring provinces.

Lacuesta said Bagay is ranked number 16 in the Target List of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Anti-Private Armed Group Task Force and carries a reward of Php 90,000.00 for his arrest. (PNA)
