CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao, July 18 — Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) on Tuesday arrested a former town councilor in Maguindanao for drug peddling.

Supt. Edwin Layese, PDEA director for ARMM, said former Shariff Aguak town councilor Rockwell Delna alias “Racquel” admitted he was trading shabu in Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat provinces.

PDEA agents also seized a fragmentation grenade he hid in his pocket during the drug buy bust operation.

Layese said the 27-year-old Delna had confessed to investigators that he has been taking huge volume of shabu from a big time supplier in Cotabato City and "retail" it to his clients in Shariff Aguak, Ampatuan, Mamasapano and in Isulan and Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat.

Led by Layese, a team to Shariff Aguak along with an informants from the town staged a buy bust operation.

Seized from Delna were four neatly packed shabu worth about P200,000, several shabu paraphernalia, list of his clients and suppliers and the hand grenade.

Layese said two of his agents were regular buyers of "small packs" of prohibited drugs and the buy bust operations were carried out after Delna vowed to bring huge volume of stuff.

The PDEA chief refused to reveal Delna's clients and suppliers but vowed to make more arrests as the suspect have expressed willingness to work with the PDEA as informant.

"Just the same he will be charged," he said.

Layese said his office is closely watching those who are involved in narco-politics as elections draw near. (PNA)
