MANILA, July 3 -After capturing the 2012 Fil-Oil Flying V championship, the National University (NU) Bulldogs expressed readiness to showcase their talent as they host the 75th season of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) that will kick-off on July 14 at the world-class SM Mall Of Asia (MOA) Arena.

In the PSA Forum held Tuesday at Shakey's UN, Manila NU Headcoach Junel Baculi along with 2011 UAAP MVP Bobby Ray Parks, Ajit Singh and University of Santo Tomas (UST) team captain Jeric Fortuna shared their thoughts on the upcoming UAAP Season.

According to Coach Baculi, their goal is to go to the final four first. "We want to land on the final four,it will be anybody's ballgame when you're in the final four," he said.

For his part, Bobby Parks vowed to give their best but admitted that the UAAP is a different environment. "We definitely will give our best, yes we won in Fil-Oil but the UAAP is different," he added.

On the other hand, NU Lead Pointguard Ajit Singh stated, "This year everybody expects us to be there and hopefully, we can be there and win the championship."

Meanwhile, UST's Fortuna said Aljon Mariano and Clark Bautista are going back to the lineup after failing to play last season. "Babalik sila Clark Bautista at Aljon Mariano, two years kami magkakasama so I can say that's our advantage this season".

Back to Coach Baculi, he said that "Ateneo is still the team to beat this season", but he is optimistic about the Bulldog's chances.

He added that after the Bulldogs won the Fil-Oil Championship, the number of enrolees increased. "With the preseason diadem, nagincrease yung enrolees ng NU", he said.

However, the UAAP Opening double headers will feature National University (NU) vs. University (UE) in the first game and University of Santo Tomas (UST) vs. Far Eastern University (FEU) in the second game.

The next day will feature the showdown of De La Salle University(DLSU) Archers against the University of the Philippines Fighting (UP) Maroons in the first game, while Adamson University (AdU) will match up with Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) in the second game.

Coach Baculi made a bold prediction. "I will boldly predict, in the next 3 years, we can get one (championship).Maybe this year,if not next year or the following year," he pointed out.(PNA) /CTB/KPVM/utb
