MANILA, June 29 – Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome has ordered the relief of eight high ranking police officials of the CARAGA Region due to the unabated illegal logging activities within their areas of jurisdiction.

Relieved were key officers of Agusan Del Sur Provincial Police Office including the acting police director Senior Supt. Rodolfo M. Dasmariñas; Senior Insp. Ronnel R. Bangalisan, of the Esperanza Municipal Police Station; Senior Insp. Joel V. Liong, San Luis police head; Senior Insp. Ehpraim Y. Detuya, of Talacogan ; Senior Insp. Wilson Corpuz, of Loreto; Insp. Jesse Rey B. De Gracia, of Las Nieves and Senior Supt. Pedro U. Obaldo Jr., officer-in-charge of the Butuan city police office.

CARAGA Regional Director Chief Supt. Reynaldo S. Rafal was made to explain on the high incidence of illegal logging activities in the province of Agusan Del Sur.

The relief police officials failed to heed to the objective of Executive Order No. 23 signed in February of last year.

President Benigno Aquino III in his speech June 19, 2012 stressed that “heads will roll if logs will roll”.

Commanders at all level of command who failed to curb illegal logging operations in their respective areas of responsibilities will face administrative relief without prejudice to the filing of criminal cases for negligence if evidence warrants, Bartolome said. (PNA)
