Number of affected families in Sarangani flashfloods climbs to 1,335

MANILA, June 15 — The 10th Infantry Division on Friday said that the number of families displaced by the massive flashfloods on Glan and Maasim towns in Sarangani has now risen to 1,335.

This is equivalent to 5,837 individuals.

Major Jake Obligado, 10th Infantry Division civic-military operations officer, said there are 310 rescued but there are still 37 individuals missing.

Initial damages in crops, livestock and infrastructure, including three school buildings, 37 totally damaged and 84 partially damaged houses, already amounts to P1.8 million.

To date, relief goods including 48 sacks of rice, canned goods and noodles were distributed to the affected families. Rescue and relief operations are still on-going, Obligado said. (PNA)
