(Obit) CA justice Sabio passes away

BAGUIO CITY, April 18 – A Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice, who disclosed that he was being bribed of P10 million to inhibit from the case of Manila Electric Company and the Government Service Insurance System died on Tuesday, April 17 due to a lingering illness.

Supreme Court (SC) Spokesman and Court Administrator Atty. Jose Midas Marquez on Wednesday said that Jose Sabio, brother of former Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) Chairman Camilo Sabio, died at age 71 in his hometown Cagayan de Oro City.

Justice Sabio's expose led to an investigation and eventual dismissal of a CA Justice.

Sabio himself was suspended for two months while two justices were reprimanded and another justice was admonished.

Justice Sabio's remains lie in state at his residence in Cagayan de Oro City.

Interment will be on April 23, 2012 at the Divine Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Cagayan de Oro City. (PNA)
