CAMP JUAN, Ilocos Norte, April 6 — Joint police and Philippine Coast Guard personnel have launched a search and rescue operation for a fisherman who was reported missing since Monday while fishing on the shoreline of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

Police identified the missing fisherman as Herminio Lete, 23, of Barangay Davila, Pasuquin.

Lete left the shore of Pasuquin with a group of fishermen Monday to catch fish. But when his companions went home, he decided to stay behind to catch more fish.

It was in the afternoon of that day when big waves emerged in the west Philippine sea, possibly sweeping Lete's small fishing boat.

Relatives of Lete asked the police and the Philippine Coast Guard to help locate their kin who they believed is still alive and clinging on to the remnants of his capsized boat. (PNA) DCT/RMA/LVM/FGL/rma
