PCSO Swertres numbers tip swindlers arrested in Agusan del Norte

BUTUAN CITY, April 3 — Police arrested almost noon Monday two illegal numbers game tip providers cum swindlers at Julie’s Bakeshop, Public Market, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. , who were residents from cities of Iligan and Butuan.

Nasipit police identified the suspects as Hazel Babael Pangandian, 33, married and a resident of Purok-4, Villakanangga, Butuan City and her companion, Mae Flores Recto, 33, married, a resident of Purok-5, Barangay Tubod, Iligan City.

Nasipit is 17 kilometers away from Butuan City.

The suspects were caught in an entrapment operation by authorities from tipsters who were also allegedly competitors of the growing business of providing illegal numbers tips for a fee. The tipsters assure the given numbers are sure winners for the numbers winning draw results of PCSO lotto draw.

Report said the two suspects were selling combination of PCSO drawn swertres numbers to the victim identified as Engracio Fabre Salarda, 83, married and a resident of District 4, Barangay Triangulo, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte in the amount of P500 per number combination.

The two allegedly demanded the victim to pay P500 before giving the swertres number combination through text messages.

Having been victimized many times of the scam sometimes aired through block time radio programs by some radio stations based here in Butuan City, the victim secretly sought assistance from Nasipit police thus an entrapment operation was planned.

The scam generates thousands of pesos, mostly coming from poor Caraga residents hoping against hope to win sure in the PCSO drawn swertres numbers games. It already victimized many through membership fees announced in radio programs for as high as P3,000 per month membership fees per interested individuals.

Once become a member, the members who pay regularly will receive daily tips of numbers guaranteed allegedly to win because it allegedly came from an insider from PCSO office in Manila.

The PCSO has denied existing syndicates from PCSO itself in giving tips of numbers saying it is purely scam. (PNA) RMA/BS/mec
