MANILA, March 18 – Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri has asked the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to conduct a thorough investigation on the 24-hour blaze at Ever Gotesco Grand Central that raged from Friday night until 11 p.m. Saturday.

He particularly urged the BFP to determine if there was foul play in the fire, which required an extensive length of time to put out.

The fire broke out at 10:45 p.m. Friday at the ground floor of the mall located along Rizal Avenue Extension in Grace Park.

Damage to property was initially estimated at P500 million.

It was learned that the mall's management still has to settle a big amount of outstanding taxes to the city government. (PNA) scs/PFN
