Business group proposes six additional infra projects to be included in 2013 budget of DPWH

ILOILO CITY, March 14 – The Iloilo Business Club (IBC) is pushing for the inclusion of six projects in the 2013 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

IBC executive director Lea Lara said the projects that they identified recently with the help of the Research, Education and Institutional Development Foundation, Inc (REID) were focused in Iloilo. It was aimed at making destinations more accessible to tourists.

The projects that were immediately endorsed to the central office of the DPWH and furnished the regional office are the concreting of the coastal road from Brgy. Loboc, Lapaz up to Dumangas town; widening of road from Molo church to Plaza Villa; widening of Diversion-Jalandoni road to E. Lopez; concreting of road from the town proper of Leon up to Bucari; drainage system and flood control project.

Funds were also proposed for each project except for the drainage system and the flood control project.

The fund requested for the coastal road is P95 million; widening of Molo to Plaza Villa road is P47.5 million and the widening of Diversion to E.Lopez is P50 million.

The Bucari road project was already included in the previous list of seven projects that were submitted to the DPWH but Lara said that they decided to again push for the project. The entire project costs P420 million. (PNA)
