Over 400 families previously residing as informal settlers in Makati City are beginning to enjoy the comforts of a livable community at the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Dreamland Ville in Barangay Kaypian, San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan. The housing project is the result of a partnership between the Makati local government and Gawad Kalinga. Former squatter families living along river banks, creeks, under bridges and vacant private or government lots in Makati City have been given a fresh start at life in their new homes at Gawad Kalinga (GK) Dreamland Ville, a 3.2-hectare relocation site in Barangay Kaypian, San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan. The housing project is a joint undertaking of the Makati local government and Gawad Kalinga, a non-stock, non-profit foundation, to provide a decent and livable community for almost 400 families living in depressed areas in Makati’s Barangays Carmona, Sta. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Cavite Engineering District Office is rushing the construction and widening of the northbound and southbound lanes of Aguinaldo Highway in Cavite to ease the traffic congestion being experienced daily by travellers bound for Tagaytay and other places in Cavite and Batangas.
