MANILA, March 8 – Former Quezon City (3rd District) Rep. Naneth Castello-Daza Castello did not show up at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday, where she was subpoenaed in connection with the investigation into the shooting incident which resulted in the death of her former live-in partner Noel Orate, Sr.
The NBI, which is the Philippines' premier investigating body, is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
On the other hand, Daza's legal counsel Atty. Freddie Villamor appeared at the NBI-Death Investigation Division (DID) and filed the affidavit of the former lawmaker.
Villamor also brought with him the affidavit of Bobby Castello and the two tennis players who saw Orate before he was killed.
In the affidavit read by Daza's lawyer, it stated that there was a hostage-taking incident that took place for an hour allegedly perpetrated by Orate himself against Jessica.
According to Villamor, his clients will not yet appear at the NBI because it is not yet necessary.
However, Villamor said, they will continue to cooperate in the ongoing investigation.
On the other hand, Atty. Daielito Lalues, the chief of the NBI-DID, said that they will again issue a subpoena to Daza for her to appear in their investigation.
The NBI has a period of until March 17, 2012 within which to submit their recommendation to the DOJ on the matter of whether or not the criminal case will either be elevated to murder or will remain as homicide. (PNA)
