President Aquino says ‘fight for change is everyone’s responsibility’

MANILA, Feb. 25 — President Benigno S. Aquino III reminded Filipinos Saturday that the fight for reform doesn’t rely solely on the ideals championed by his parents, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino, but also for all citizens.

The President led Saturday the wreath-laying ceremony for his parents at the Rizal Park following the events at the Edsa People Power monument as part of the celebration for the 26th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

The President also said that even after 26 years, after the Edsa people power revolt, the fight for change and reform doesn’t stop and must continue.

For instance, he noted the past decade as one marred by corruption and abuses that his administration is trying to correct. Under his good and honest leadership, the chief executive said he believes the country could become a nation free of corruption and poverty.

He particularly mentioned his administration’s thrust in reforming the country’s justice system, in which he said could be achieved with the help of the people. The country’s chief justice is currently facing impeachment proceedings at the Senate.
