Cops confiscate 200 kilos of dynamited fish in La Union checkpoint

SAN JUAN, La Union, Feb. 23 — Joint elements of the police in La Union seized at least 200 kilograms of “galunggong” (blue mackerel scad) believed caught through dynamite fishing in a checkpoint here last Tuesday.

They seized the fish soon after it was examined that these were caught through dynamite fishing while the vendor could not present appropriate document showing legal shipment of the fish.

Police identified vendor – shipper of the confiscated fish as Melba Calixterio of Bangued, Abra.

The fish was estimated to be worth of P200,000.

Police said the vendor bought the fish from Dagupan City and would be sold in the public market of Abra.

The vendor is now undergoing further interrogation while under police custody while the confiscated fish was distributed to charitable institutions in the province. (PNA)
