DINALUPIHAN, Bataan, Feb. 21 — A man who was found dead along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) here on Sunday afternoon was believed to be a victim of carjacking after the Grand Starex van he was driving could nowhere be found.

The victim was identified by his relatives — a brother, his wife and mother — as Kenneth Nievarez, 31, of San Andres, Manila.

A brother of the owner of the missing van said the vehicle left Makati City early Sunday morning bound for Bulacan to fetch their father.

Supt. Robin Sarmiento, Dinalupihan police chief, said they were able to trace the owner of the van after verifying from SCTEx management about the entry of the Grand Starex at the tollgate near Tipo, Hermosa town without the required toll card.

Police found near the body of the victim an unsurrendered toll card taken from the SCTEx entry point in Mabalacat, Pampanga at 6:40 a.m. Sunday.

A farmer reported the discovery of the body of Nievarez at 12:40 p.m. Sunday along KM 16 + 100 of SCTEx in Barangay Old San Jose here.

Police said that Nievarez’s body bore gunshot wound at the right eyebrow that exited at the back of the head. The victim was hogtied on the arm with a nylon rope. (PNA)
