MANILA, Feb. 17 — President Benigno S. Aquino III will be visiting Aurora province on Sunday to attend the celebration of the 33rd foundation anniversary of the province and the commemoration of the 124th birth anniversary of Dona Aurora Aragon-Quezon, the wife of former president Manuel L. Quezon.

Upon arriving in the Aurora provincial capitol, the President will lead the wreath-laying ceremonies. After that, the President will lead the inauguration of the Aurora Memorial Hospital in Baler. The President is expected to deliver a message during the inauguration.

Aurora province was founded by President Ferdinand E. Marcos in August 13, 1979, by virtue of Batas Pambansa Blg. 7 making the province independent from the province of Quezon for the first time since the Spanish occupation.

Aurora is linked to Quezon province during its early history but originally forming part of Nueva Ecija. In 1591, Quezon province was organized into a district that included a substantial portion of the provinces of Laguna and Nueva Ecija.

In 1979, Aurora became the 73rd province of the country. During that time, the provincial government of Aurora issued an Executive Order declaring February 19 of each year Aurora Foundation Day in honor of the late Dona Aurora Quezon. (PNA)
