MANILA, Feb. 17 — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” B. Coloma Jr. said that preparations for the 26th Anniversary Celebration of the Edsa People Power Revolution next week are now in full throttle in the Aquino government’s efforts to ensure that the spirit of volunteerism, which was prevalent during the peaceful revolt, will be successfully imbibed by the people.

In an interview over radio station dzAS onboard MV Logos Hope at Pier 15, South Harbor in Manila, following his attendance of the formal opening of the Logos Hope Onboard Library, Friday, Secretary Coloma said that the Edsa People Power Commission has been lining up several activities in 26 different venues all over the country for the celebration that will focus on the innate Filipino spirit of volunteerism, unity and concern in achieving national progress.

Coloma also noted the Aquino administration’s thrust of realizing inclusive growth for everyone.

He also said that the government expects national participation during the event considering that the celebration is founded on the symbol of national unity as a people and as a country.

The whole Filipino nation will be celebrating on the 25th of February the 26th year of the bloodless revolt also known as the People Power Revolution, the EDSA Revolution, and the Philippine Revolution of 1986 which was a series of popular demonstrations in that time.

The said non-violent revolution also involves civil resistance against the regime of violence and electoral fraud that led to the end of dictatorship in the country. (PNA)
