De Lima to testify against CJ Corona on Feb. 22

MANILA, Feb. 17 – Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila De Lima on Friday said that she will testify at the impeachment trial against Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato Corona on Wednesday.

De Lima received on Friday the subpoena from the Senate Impeachment Court.

De Lima was ordered by the Senate Impeachment Court to bring with her the following documents:

— the record of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on the arrival and departure from the country of SC Chief Justice Renato Corona from October 2011 until November 2011;

— the petition filed before the SC of former President and now Pampanga (2nd District) Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband, former First Gentleman Atty. Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo seeking to stop the watch list order issued against them by the DOJ;

— the surveillance camera video at the Padre Faura entrance of the DOJ that contain the footages on Nov. 15, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.;

— the record of the BI in not allowing the Arroyo couple from leaving the country on Nov. 15, 2011;

— the warrant of arrest issued by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 against Mrs. Arroyo; and,

— the special power of attorney executed by the Arroyo couple in compliance with the conditions set by the SC in allowing them to leave the country. (PNA)
